When the ex is playing you

I’m sure a lot of you have subscribed to many get back your ex blogs and websites, and you probably get the same emails:


  • How to get your ex back in 5 steps
  • What to do when he/she is calling you
  • What happens when they ignore you?
  • And finally… what to do if they are seeing someone else.



I actually got an email yesterday from one of the programs talking about what to do when someone plays with you.  It goes like this:

“Do you have an ex that is playing games with you?  One that confuses the heck out of you”?

Well if they are calling you to talk about nothing, initiates contact but then ignores you and gives you little hints to keep you around… it is not that they are testing you to see how you react. Or that they don’t know what they want.

It’s that they are playing with you because they know that you are still around to gain a reaction from.

Look, it is immature and selfish, but have you ever done that to someone else? You kept them around to check out the other atmosphere, knowing that they were still around.  I have done it, and so is your ex.  It is not a test.  They are messing around with your head because they can.

Now would you rather be a pawn for someone’s game, or regain respect for yourself so you can have the relationship that you want for yourself and possibly a future partner?  Possibly even with your ex?  You need to stop the devalue train now.  

Do you want respect?  Earn it.  Being a doormat or a second option for your ex is not the solution.  Have you ever read about successful reconciliations?  They did not come from the dumpee begging for the ex to come back, they took charge of their lives.

Take a Step Back to Save your Relationship

Never one to not follow my own advice, I realized a missing piece to the actual strategy on how to get your ex back (and that's why you are here) In order to move forward, you need to step back. If your relationship is not working out the way you had planned, or if it had already ended, have heart.  You need to rediscover yourself before recommitting yourself to someone.
